Q: Will Xi lenses be supported?
A: Those lenses were not known for their optical excellence. And not many people have expressed interest. So currently it’s not on the ‘to be supported one day’ list.

die xi-Objektive werden schon von den letzten Minolta-Kameras bestenfalls rudimentär unterstützt. Sie fokussieren auch mit den letzten SLTs, aber Hybrid-AF oder OSPDAF geht mit den Teilen nicht: das sind Zooms, die von der Kamera nachgeführt werden müssen, und ich zweifle daran, dass der nötige Code in der E-mount-Firmware noch vorhanden ist.

A: No – the camera it’s connected to has to have phase-detect AF points baked into the sensor. Neither the A7S II nor the original A7s have this – they are contrast-detect AF only.

A: That’s much harder to do in software; so while it won’t be initially supported that’s something that can be added down the line.

auch wenn das viele nicht gerne hören, war das klar. A-mount-Objektive enthalten keine Korrekturdaten für den OSPDAF. Diese müssen als Tabellen in der Kamera- oder Adapter-Firmware hinterlegt sein, wie es in der A99 und A99M2 gemacht wird. Sony hat nur die lieferbaren Objektive hinterlegt, und die Bastler dürften diese Tabellen haben. Daher können sie auch die SSM/SAM ggfs. implementieren, die sind in der A99-Firmware vorhanden.
Und hier kommt jetzt die LensID ins Spiel: die anzuwendende Parametertabelle wird anhand der LensID ausfgewählt. Ohne gültige eindeutige LensID keine gültige Tabelle und damit kein funktionierender AF.

Q: Will the board swap also work with the LA-EA2?
A: No. The board shape and connector pinout are similar but different. If you try to install this board on an LA-EA2, it might burn the adapter.
