Also bei hohen ISO zeigt die 40er trotz ihrem 2MP Defizit mehr Details.

Man sieht auch auf den Rauschegraphen deutlich wie die Rauschunterdrückung der D300 bei ISO 400, 800 und bei 3200 richtig reinhaut sonst könnte die nie so sauber sein und ist sie in den Raw's auch gar nicht und du glaubst doch nicht ernsthaft, dass das keine Details kostet?

Wenn ich mir dann noch die Crops der Queen bei Dpreview ansehe. Sind die Bilder der D300 z.B. bei ISO 800 auch schön sauber, aber die 40D zeigt deutlich mehr Details im Haar und weniger Matsch.

Wenn man den zweiten Graphen oben beachtet, bemerkt man bei der 40er ein relativ hohes Chromarauschen. Dies lässt sich übrigens bei der 40D getrennt zur Hi ISO Noise Reduction regeln:

das was du da zitierst spricht eigentlich für keine kamera. vorallem weil sie die alpha auch noch mit der version 1 oder so getestet haben. das ist ein riesen unterschied zur version 4. ich könnte aus deinem text auch "the cleanest of the remaining three appears to be the D300 followed by the EOS 40D and then E-3" zitieren und hätte deine extreme aussage wiederlegt. im dpreview steht auch, dass die 40d stärker schärft als die d300 und die alpha700, vielleicht kommen ja da deine details her ? nur dass kannst du bei jeder kamera beliebig einstellen, was ja auch im review angemerkt ist.
