c21jufe Published on 2020-8-1 21:38 Today I found a problem when using the magic ring to connect to 135za (body A9). The focus speed drops when taking pictures outside in low light at night, so I want to switch to manual focus. But found that even if the body is set to MF file, but still afs auto focus state. Turn it off and put it in mf file and turn it on again, it still shows afs auto focus. The screwdriver lens can't directly focus by hand. As a result, the manual focus function is lost when the magic ring is used. Please study it, and the magic ring can also be manually focused through the firmware update. After all, manual focus is still required in some specific occasions. Adjusted At present, it can be solved like this: set a shortcut key for AF/MF switching on the body, and when you need to switch to manual focus when taking pictures, press this shortcut key to switch to manual focus mode. renkm published on 2020-8-1 23:03. Behelfslösung für manuelle Fokuseinstellung am LA-EA4r!
Zitat:
Zitat:

Hoi zsamme,
letzte Mail von Gary: Hi, all.* Below is an update.* As you recall, the last time I wrote to you I had found some problems with my pre-release version, and was awaiting a firmware update.* Well, the update arrived as scheduled, and I made two videos showing off how it works. The first video shows you what the photographer sees when using Eye AF and Animal Eye AF using the adapter, A7R IV, and 3 different lenses (Minolta 50mm f/1.7, Minolta 85mm f/1.4, and Zeiss 135mm f/1.8).* Notice it still has some stability issues:*https://youtu.be/qre9zaxV6uM (Note: The “External flash” error message you see is what happens when you change the lens without turning off the camera first (something I was warned never to do)). The second video was a more extreme test, because I’m an engineer and I like to find the limits of my equipment.* In this case I used the same 3 lenses and had the adapter focus on something close and then far away (and then close again).* I did this with both the A7R IV plus adapter, AND the A99 II (which takes A-mount lenses natively).* I thought this was a fair test because the A99 II also has phase-detect pixels baked into the sensor (as well as the main phase detect array being fed by the semi-transparent mirror).**https://youtu.be/BL5lEvHhl48 The folks in China confirm that this is the way it works, and that we’re trading off speed for accuracy (an explanation which doesn’t make sense, since there’s no such tradeoff with the A99 II).* The upshot: yes it works, but we shouldn’t be relying on this adapter for shooting sports.* So as you can see from both videos, the adapter remains Not Ready for Prime Time.* But it’s being sold in China right now anyway, because the creator has decided to use the Microsoft approach: ship a buggy product and fix it later on.* (Which I can’t fault too much because lately that’s how I’ve been releasing my e-books.*J*) I am still very much on the fence regarding whether to take this project on.* Part of it is my engineering background, which lets me recognize what a remarkable amount of work has gone into this project so far, and I have to tell you I love being able to use my Zeiss 135 f/1.8 without having to move the focus point to the eye first. :-)** (Sample image from the 1st video attached.* Count the eyelashes!)* It also reminds me that all engineers everywhere, since the beginning of time, underestimate the amount of effort it takes to produce stable and robust software.* Let’s see what future firmware updates bring. Pricing If I become a distributor I’ll be selling the board for USD $130 plus shipping.* And I will charge USD $65 to retrofit an LA-EA4 adapter, whether it is one you send to me or one that you buy from me.* The prices are guided by my mantra of running a business, which is "Don't be greedy". :-)** More FAQ (see Update #1 email for original FAQ list) Q:* Will zoom lenses be supported? A: Yes.* The first on the list is the Minolta 80-200 f/2.8 G (the white version).* The beercan too. Q: How about other Zeiss AF lenses? A: Only two have the screw-driven AF.* Both are on the list. Q: Is all the normal LA-EA information retained in EXIF metadata? Yes.* In all of my images taken with the adapter, the EXIF information shows the lens’s focal length and max. aperture.* Q: Will my [very popular 3rd*party screw-drive lens] be supported? A: There's no reason a 3rd party lens could not be added to the list; it's just a matter of time, priorities, and desire.* Once one gets added, there will be pressure to add every 3rd party lens ever made. :-(* And so while I cannot predict the future, my honest answer is "It probably will not happen". That’s all the news I have for now.* If something changes, you’ll be the second one to know!*J Sincerely, Gary* Gary L. Friedman Photographer,*Author,*and Lecturer The Friedman Archives ---- Auf meine spezielle Frage betreffend des MF hatten wir diesen Austausch mit kleinem Missverständnis: Tobias: one urgent question from my group to the update, does it solve the problem of no manual focusing or don't you have that issue? Gary: Your urgent question:* I have had no issues with being able to manually focus lenses that are not on the approved list.* The adapter recognizes that they're unsupported immediately and goes into MF mode. Tobias: Some buyers in China wrote that they could not change into manual Mode with (some of) the supported lenses, like the 500mm f8 or the CZ 135 1.8, but had to use a little trick, with using a customized button to switch between AFand MF, rather than the camera menu or the AF/MF button on the lens. Did you have this issue and what are your findings on the update? Gary, heute: Oh, on supported lenses?* I haven't tried it.* Nor have I tried the 500mm f/8.* I'll try both tomorrow and let you know my findings. --- Er wird sich also damit beschäftigen. Liebe Grüsse (heute nur in Kürze ) Tobias Geändert von Tobbser (04.08.2020 um 10:27 Uhr) |
