If you can record for 29 minues then there is likely to be no techical reason not to record for as long as your memory card/battery can take. BUT in Europe, at least, anything that can record video for 30 minues or longer is subject to additional taxed as a video recorder. In the UK the tax rate is up to 4.9% on a camera, but up to 14% on a camcorder

The limit is, therefore an economic one.
