"It is a classic design, which dates back to 1986 and it is extremely good - lower in contrast as it is complex, but very high in sharpness. Main disadvantages are size and weight, and very limited close focus - there you are shooting kids with a 28mm and you can't get closer than six feet! (not quite that bad but almost). It was built by hand at the Sakai factory which made/makes all the high end apo and special lenses, and Minolta themselves have admitted that this lens was sold for well under its true production price ."
