According to a test performed by Chasseur d'Images, the 7D's viewfinder ranks third in brightness, only beaten by the EOS 5D and one of the EOS 1 models. In its own class it wins by KO over all comers, and most 'pro' cameras get a sound beating!

As the article puts it (from memory, so slightly paraphrased): "With the exception of Minolta's 7D, excellent viewfinders are found only in the professional segment".
