Thanks for the answers; I finally had another go at it, bought another cable and got it working. Both hints were useful:
- the usb connector is special, not your ordinary micro-usb, it has to be put in a bit deeper than usual
- in the settings menu (the fourth tab) the usb connection has to set to auto (works for me). It may also work when set to pc-remote, but i did not try that.
