RawTherapee und wavelet-denoise

Hallo,

habe im RT-Forum einen Workflow gesehen, (bin noch noch am lesen, weil auf englisch) zum Thema entrauschen in RT und danach in Gimp mit Wavelet-denoise.

Wage mich gerade mit meiner alpha200 und Minolta 3,5-, 28-85mm in die Sporthalle ohne Blitz, mit ISO 800 bis Anschlag. Ich weiss, das das Equipment nicht so dafür geeignet ist.
Schafft man wohl da noch Ergebnisse im Bereich Entrauschen.

The wavelet sharpening is used for almost all my images at low ISO. After a bit of presharpening in RT with RL (radius 60) I send it to Gimp and set the wavelet sharpening depending on the image quality to amount = 0.2 to 0.4 and radius=0.2 to 0.4. This takes less than 1 minute.

For the wavelet denoising there is a learning curve, but this takes only some evenings of experimenting.
Once you got the principles, it's quite easy and a lot better then Noise Ninja in Bible.
I use it for higher ISO-images?

In RT I set the denoising to small figures to preserve as much detail as possible, reducing the noise a small bit.

With the wavelet denoising I first set it to YCbCr color model, select the Y channel and Selected gray as Preview Channel.

Then I put the the Softness to a level of 0.7-085 (depending on the ISO of the image) and then I adjust the Threshold to the level needed.

Then I click OK. If further denoising is needed, I use it a second time but setting the color model to RGB, Preview model to Selected gray and then adjusting each Color channel.
This gives me an image (practically) without noise while preserving as much detail as possible.

The trick is to find a settting for the threshold and softness that works well.

Experiment once with these: set eg. the threshold to 2 and the softness to 0.3, lower and raise the softness to see the difference.

Do the same with eg. the softness to 0.7 and the threshold to 1.2, lower and raise the threshold.

Once you got the working principles, one can denoise the image in less then 2 minutes.

Only in case of a little bit of noise (not to be noticed when viewing from a normal distance) I use Smart Redux Sharpening (also with small radius= 0.5 and amount=1) as this plugin keeps the noise at the same level.

So, I cann't do it without these plugins any more.

Ich möchte wissen, wo die Grenze der Nachbearbeitung (entrauschen) liegt.
ISO 1600 bei einer Alpha 200 sollte doch eine Herausforderung sein.
Werde in den nächsten Tagen Fotos einstellen.

Herausforderung... gut formuliert :) 1600 ist zur not noch drin, ich benutze es aber wenns geht nicht. Auch im Zoo versuche ich mit 800 auszukommen. Bei der A200 ist für mich das eigentlich schon grenzwertig, da sollte man das Motiv schon so aufgenommen haben, dass man nicht mehr croppen muss.

Mit dem Entrauschen ists so eine sache ich hab mir DxO 6 mal angeschaut, das liefert auch sehr gute Ergebnisse. PS CS4 mit ACR 5.6 ist da schon etwas schlechter, genau wie PSP X2. Bei beiden werden die Details sehr in Mitleidenschaft gezogen.

Rawtherape hab ich noch nicht ausprobiert, werde ich aber spätestens nächste Woche machen wenn ich endlich Urlaub habe :-)

Kann das eigentlich schon mit 850ger RAW umgehen?

Hallo,
a850/550 bei RT wohl erst bei der nächsten Version.

Sonst Sonys IDC und wenn notwendig weiter bearbeiten.
Der IDC geht ja auch sehr vorsichtig mit Farben, entrauschen und schärfen um,
so das die Fotos sehr gut weiter verabeitet werden können.
