David Kilpatrick dürfte manchen hier ein Begriff sein. Er ist auf der PK und hat heute mit jemandem von Sony UK gesprochen. Hier ein Ausschnitt aus seinem kurzen Bericht auf dpreview:

SSM - Sony are confused by this. Believe it or not, the reply was that if they used SSM in regular lenses, it would devalue the existing SSM lenses. I put Paul right on this. He asked me specify exactly what SSM lenses would keep people happy, since the 16-80mm Zeiss is definitely not to be SSM, and the reason for the delay is that advance orders exceeded production capacity planned - they have therefore put back the sale date, and replanned the production facility, for a greater number of lenses. The A100 has exceeded all targets and there is now a lens shortage despite their decision to go ahead immediately with revisions of old Minolta designs in order to ensure there was NO shortage.

We talked this through, and he will be passing my message on re: a superior 18-70mm lens, priced like the Nikon Silent Wave 3.5-4.5, similar to the 24-105mm in build, with SSM; a new version of the 100-300mm APO (D) with SSM. I said that if they just made those two it would solve the black hole situation.

Apparently the noise issue which bugs people here is invisible in terms of feedback from sales. It is not an issue. But they are aware of the difference between the A100 and some other cameras.

Interview with Sigma: incredibly, their UK team were unaware of the existence of SSM lenses. They though the Minolta mount only supported mechanical focus. Now they know better! They think that since Sigma must be aware in Japan of the specs/tech requirements, there must be a patent issue or a significant difference between SSM and USM (HSM is apparently similar to USM, and it appears from discussion that Sigma beat Nikon to making HSM lenses for Nikon, and held back supply until Nikon could launch their first Silent Wave designs - as they appear to have worked together on the project). They say they will be pulling all stops out to make Pentax/Samsung sonic motor lenses.

Gute Nachrichten für neue Kameras. Aber schlechte für die Objektive, wie es aussieht. Allerdings ist das natürlich alles spekulativ.

Steht leider nicht der Anflug eines neuen Faktes bezüglich des nächsten :alpha: -Gehäuses drinne. Dass Sony Vollformat bauen will und wird ist grundsätzlich schon länger klar.

Ich hoffe nur nach wie vor inständig, dass die nächste :alpha: nicht mehr soooo lange dauert.

Hmm, das hört sich ja leider nicht so dolle an. Ein neuer Body ist mir aktuell nicht so wichtig; ob der nun 2006 oder erst 2007 kommt ist mir schnuppe.

Wesentlich wichtiger ist für mich das Thema Linsen und Zubehör - und eben hier hält sich die Euphorie bislang arg in Grenzen.
Alleine der Satz:

hört sich nach völliger Ahnungslosigkeit vom aktuellen Geschehen auf dem DSLR-Markt an. Hat dem mal jemand gesagt, daß das bei Canon Standart ist und bei Nikon und Sigma in großer Auswahl zur Verfügung steht? Und das auch Pentax demnächst damit auf der Matte steht? Und vor allem - zu welchen Preisen...?

Naja, mal sehen ob im Laufe der Woche noch was kommt. So langsam aber sicher mache ich mir Gedanken über einen Systemwechsel....


Edit: Wenn wenigstens Sigma seine HSM-Objektive für SoKoMi anbieten würde... aber da ist auch nichts klar. Und zur Zeit bekommt man für sein KoMi-Zeugs wenigstens noch ein bisschen was. Aber in 3-4 Monaten....?
